NATO has rejected Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi‘s call for a truce.

The call came in a televised address on state media, in which Gaddafi said he was ready for a ceasefire and negotiations, if NATO did likewise.

As Al Jazeera’s Omar al Saleh has found, people in the country’s main opposition stronghold, Benghazi, are also sceptical.

Syria Update: ‘Renewed gunfire’ in Deraa

There are reports of renewed gunfire and more military reinforcements pouring into Syria’s southern city of Deraa.

Al Jazeera spoke to a resident in Deraa about what was happening there – he did not want to be named for his own safety.
